Thanksgiving weekend ... and what a lot we had to be thankful for this year! I planned my turkey dinner for Saturday, knowing Niki would probably interrupt our plans if we went any later in the weekend. No sooner had my family left, the dishes done, and the kitchen tidied up when she started with some very strange behavior. I quickly brought the "whelping pool" upstairs, rearranged the kitchen to accommodate the nursery, and spent the next 12 hours wondering when the fun would start. I don't think Niki or myself got a wink of sleep. I spent most of the night outside walking her on a flexi, following behind with a flashlight! Finally, at 8 a.m., she came inside, settled in her pool, and within 2 hours had presented me with 8 beautiful babies ... a job well done! |
