about
Whiskey
...
Everything about our Whiskey
is special ... her entry to the world, her amazing first few moments of
life, the strong connection I feel with this puppy, and how she got her
name.
Whiskey was actually a stillborn puppy.
I don't think an exhausted Niki even realized she had delivered puppy
#8. I looked into the pool and wondered, "where did this one come
from?" Niki did her best to clean her up and get her breathing but
little Whiskey was still. I quickly jumped into action and began
resuscitative measures. After a few moments (that seemed like
forever) she took her first few breaths. I rubbed her tiny body
briskly and put her to nurse on Mama. She took to it right away
and has never looked back.
This girl's got spunk, personality, and a
very special "presence". I think no matter what I ever decided
about the other puppies and who might be staying here, Whiskey
always let me know SHE was the one staying. She seems to have a
special way of letting me know that she was meant to be here, and that I
had better be paying attention to that message.
My daughter, Melissa, was here at the time
the puppies were whelped. It was a scary and sad time to think we
might lose this little puppy. When Whiskey began to breathe, and
we both began to cry, we were so overjoyed that we were able to save
her, I knew immediately what I'd call her ... Whiskey Girl, after
Melissa's favorite song, Toby Keith's "Little Whiskey Girl".
She's definitely a smart
little puppy, confident, feminine, and FUN. I'm looking very
forward to the future with Whiskey, training for Rally-O, showing in the ASCA and CKC conformation ring, and
herding.
